THE final regular season round of Mackay Rugby Union took place over the weekend. Three big games with finals spots still on the line it was always going to be the most exciting round to date.
In game one, the third placed Kuttabul Camelbok took on fourth placed Slade Point. This was always going to be a close match and it did not disappoint. Slade Point won a thriller, 26 v 25.
In game two the undefeated Whitsunday Raiders travelled to Mackay to take on Cellar dweller Brothers at Leprechaun Park. Although Brothers never dropped their effort and intensity, they were outclassed 86 v 7 by a finals-bound Raiders.
The third game saw a Grand final rematch held up at the Bowen Recreational reserve. Although Mackay managed to cross late in the match for some consolation points the Mud Crabs took the match 49 v 12 in an exciting showdown.
