North devils Vs the wanderers

The North Devils faced Wanderers in the U17s girls Grand Final Last weekend and the game was befitting of the occasion. The game started as a tight affair, with neither side able to put points on the board even after the first 15 minutes of play.

The North Devils faced Wanderers in the U17s girls Grand Final Last weekend and the game was befitting of the occasion.

The game started as a tight affair, with neither side able to put points on the board even after the first 15 minutes of play.

Stiff competition between the two sides, saw the ball travelling up and down the field.

With 13 minutes left in the first half, Norths made their play to put points on the board.

Instead, Thailia Alchin-Strohfeld was taken off the field injured, which lit a fire under Norths to give it everything they had.

With nine minutes until half time, Norths’ Lilynay Carige took the ball over the line, to draw first blood with a successful conversion by Jalen Pauling.

The Wanderers answered a few minutes later with Kayla shepherd travelling over for a try with a conversion from Emily Bella bringing the score to an even 6-6.

Not satisfied to leave it as a tie, Emily took the ball and headed back over the line herself with two minutes left until half time.

With scores at 12-6 in Wanderers’ favour, going into half time going into the second half it was anyone’s game.

Wanderers went over for the first try back after the half time with a brilliant try for Abby-Rose Bowman which was converted by Emily Bella, bringing the score to 18-6 with 20 minutes left in the game.

Another tough struggle ensued in the final three minutes and 30 seconds, with Number 3 – Mercedes Lawson  ran over the white line for a try in the top right corner.

In the final minutes of in the game Emily Bella kicked the final field goal to cement the win for the Wanderers, with a final score of 23-6 and a terrific game from both sides.
