Netball Queensland Makes Difficult decision

Due to the lockdown announced today, Netball Queensland has taken the difficult decision to postpone our 2021 Nissan State Age Championship due to start this weekend on the Sunshine Coast.

Due to the lockdown announced today, Netball Queensland has taken the difficult decision to postpone our 2021 Nissan State Age Championship due to start this weekend on the Sunshine Coast.

As the largest participation event in Netball Queensland’s calendar, we have been planning and preparing for this event for a very long time. This outbreak and the decision to postpone the event will affect more than 20,000 participants, supporters, staff, volunteers, vendors, commercial partners, and media who attend our State Age event.

However, the health and wellbeing of the community must come first.

There is a significant risk of hosting an event of this size when we are heading into a lockdown due to cases in the community and more practically, the snap lockdown means we are not able to prepare and set up for the event.

We appreciate that the lockdown and postponement of State Age will impact planned travel and accommodation arrangements.

Given we are postponing not canceling the event, we encourage as many teams as possible to seek credits against bookings.

We hope to see everyone back together later in the year. Further information around the rescheduling of this event will be provided in the coming weeks.
