Masters women break drought

MACKAY Masters Women broke their drought recently to win the Hockey Queensland Master Women State Championships.

The amazing Master’s ladies have been in the last four grand finals – sealing the deal in Warwick with a comprehensive win over Tweed.

A fantastic weekend of hock- ey was played in the cold snap in Warwick with all three Mackay teams representing our association with pride.

The weekend of June 19 saw a strong performance from the men and women of Norths.

Leading the A grade table the Devils again showed their depth with strong performances against Brothers.

The Norths women kicked off the A Grade completion with a 7-0 win, followed by the men beating Brothers 4-2.

Arsenals women then took on Souths and in a close game.

The Sharkies came out on top 1-0 thanks to a cracking goal from Dayna Kelland.

The Souths men followed with a close 4-3 win over the Arsenal men. Both games were tight and skilful.

The U-18 representative teams start their State Championships this weekend.

The men compete against the best in the State in Rockhampton with the women driving up the road to Townsville to do the same.

The Association wishes their players the best of luck and everyone is look forward to more of our local exceptional young athletes being identified for State selection.
