Imposing structure for Mackay Central
THE SENTINEL Property Group will build a $50 million, 100-room hotel and a luxury office waterfront complex.
Sentinel’s Chairman, Warren Egbert, has already built Mackay’s successful Sydney Street Markets on the corner of Sydney and Gordon Streets.
Spokesman, Nick Russell, said the Mackay Council had selected Sentinel to develop two of Council’s six inner city sites as part of the Council’s river access redevelopment.
“These are the Gregory Street carpark and 14- 18 Wood Street,” Mr Russell said.
“Sentinel’s proposed development on the corner of Gregory and River Streets includes an eight story, 100- room, 4.5-Star corporate hotel, fronting onto River Street with ground floor reception and function rooms, food and beverage opportunities, podium level car parking, land-scraped gardens, a lap swimming pool and a corporate gym.
“Sentinel’s A-Grade and upmarket, four-storey, 1,200 sqm office and retail building will have landscaped pedestrian paths with clear sightlines. There will be street level car parking, ground floor retail onto Gregory Street, an arcade to the Dudley Denny Centre, which also allows pedestrian traffic flow from Gregory to Woods Streets.”
Mr Russell said he 4.5-Star hotel will offer unique features that aren’t currently provided in the existing market and is perfectly positioned to the corner of River and Gregory Streets.
“A large percentage of the rooms will offer river views, and a north/easterly aspect.”
Sentinel spokesman added that other Riverside Precinct properties are
perhaps better suited to long term residential, vertical aged
care/retirement living, and a larger offering of food and beverage
options than offered by the “Mackay City Centre Precinct”
