Two men in court on DV breaches
Two men have appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court following separate domestic violence breaches.
A MACKAY Magistrate has remanded two Mackay Men in custody on a string of separate domestic violence charges.
The men appeared after being charged in relation to two separate and unrelated incidents.
The first man has been charged with grievous bodily harm, choking strangling suffocating, deprivation of liberty, torture and stealing.
Magistrate Kenny remanded the man in custody for legal review in early August, and to reappear in Court later that month.
In a second domestic violence case today, Magistrate Kenny refused bail for another man who was said to pose an “unacceptable risk” .
Magistrate Kenny said the defendant had repeatedly breached domestic violence orders.
“The Court does not know how to stop (the accused) from contacting his ex-partner,”Magistrate Kenny announced.
“I can’t be satisfied that (he) won’t contact her again and threaten to kill himself.”
The Mackay Magistrates Court heard that the defendant’s ex-partner was “petrified” that he might find her house.
The accused perpetrator was arrested by police on May 31 and he has been remanded in custody to reappear in the Mackay Magistrate’s court later this month.
