Between 7pm, May 22 and 6am, May 23 it’s alleged that a silver coloured 2005 Mazda sedan was stolen from a business on Victoria Street (between Carlyle Street and Tennyson Street) in Mackay.
At about 12pm on May 24, police were contacted by members of the public and advised that the alleged stolen car was parked in a business car park on Rosewood Drive in Rural View.
On arrival at the car park, it’s alleged that officers observed the stolen car parked, with a 30-year-old man from Etna Creek inside the car.
Officers observed damage to the left-hand side of the vehicle.
The 30-year-old man was briefly spoken to and then arrested by police and arrangements were made to return the alleged stolen car to it’s owner.
The Etna Creek man has been charged with unlawfully using a motor vehicle, two counts of unlicensed driving, obstructing a police officer in the performance of their duty and failing to take reasonable care and precautions to dispose of a syringe/needle.
He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on June 9 to have the charges heard.
