Loss of licence

AN UNLUCKY 22-year-old beauty therapist has lost her licence and been fined for driving while just over the legal alcohol limit in what was a classic case of ‘the morning after the night before’.

Elise Maree Crawford had a blood alcohol reading of 0.057, shortly after 8am after drinking in a hotel on the previous evening.

Miss Crawford pleaded guilty and told the court that she had slept for six hours and believed that her blood alcohol level was not over the legal limit when she made the decision to drive.

Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said it was good that Elise Crawford had been proactive and purchased a blood alcohol breathaliser.

“I take into account your low alcohol reading, which may not have affected your driving judgement and I impose a lesser penalty of $300 and suspend your licence for one month,” Magistrate Hartigan said.

Miss Crawford was stopped for speeding when driving from Middlemount to Dalby on the Capricorn Highway.
