Labourers weapon, dope hit
A 27-YEAR-old labourer was charged at a random breath test with possessing a weapon and cannabis in the Mackay Magistrates Court.
The Police prosecutor told the court that Aaron Christopher Penny was charged on May 15, 2021 with possession of the drug cannabis and a weapon or knife.
The prosecutor said police searched the vehicle and found a bag with cannabis and cannabis seeds in the boot and a foldaway knife in the centre console, but he was not further charged when a number of oth- er knives were found in the vehicle.
The prosecutor said that Penny had drug problems, had been charged with similar offences in 2019 and there was a need to do something to break his drug cycle.
Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan said the knife would be forfeited and handed down a six-month probation order, which she said “will help you with your rehabilitation, where you must agree to supervision and drug testing”.
