Expo boosts local tourism
The annual Home Show and Caravan Camping Expo in Mackay this weekend not only injects millions of dollars into the local economy but it is also ‘driving’ more people to holiday locally more often.
Expo organisers say that their research clearly shows that anyone who comes
to the event and purchases a new 4x4, boat, camper trailer, Caravan or
motor home will use those leisure vehicles within a 3 hour drive of where they live around
90% of the time.
Bob Carroll from Australian Events says “this is wonderful news for local
businesses, great news for the local economy and a welcome shot in the
arm for local tourism.
If you drive for even two hours north, south or west of Mackay then you will see some pretty amazing places, not to mention what is on offer on at the Whitsundays.
You can fish, water ski, camp out, fossick for gem
stones, mountain climb, bush bash in your four wheel drive, go hunting or just laze about your camp site and
enjoy the brilliance of a night time sky in the outback”.
Organisers suggest that you get their early and be prepared to spend four or five
hours just to get around the event and see everything and to also take
in some of the entertainment that is on offer.
There is over $ 12,500-00 in prizes that must be won including a Spa thanks
to Mackay Spa Shed and the Ultimate Ironman Package thanks to Mackay 4WD Centre.
The event is an approved Covid Safe Expo and will open from 8.30am to 4pm
on Friday 21st, 8.30am to 5pm Saturday 22nd and 8.30am to 4pm on Sunday
