Court busy with drugs, driving charges
A 29-year-old Proserpine man pleaded guilty in Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday and was fined $750 for driving under the influence of both methamphetamine and cannabis on March 19.
Dyllan William Clarkson had his driving licence suspended until March 15 next year.
The Mackay Magistrates Court was told that this latest offence was Clarkson’s fourth illegal drug conviction in four years.
Magistrate Hartigan said that Clarkson clearly had a long relationship with drugs and that if he kept going, he was facing a high fine or a possible prison sentence.
Clarkson has previously been on parole for two-and-a-half years and he had also been on a Supervision Order from the Proserpine Court.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Mackay woman also appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday charged with possessing methamphetamines, plus failure to dispose of a hypodermic needle and other illegal drug taking equipment. Crystal Michelle-Jayde Dwyer has been remanded on bail to reappear in the Mackay Magistrates Court in July.
A 31-year-old Bakers Creek man also appeared in the Mackay Magistrates Court, facing charges of driving under the influence of illegal drugs. Jessie Pel has been bailed to reappear in the Mackay Magistrates Country later this month. Mr Pel will also face driving charges including driving without due care, obstructing a police officer, driving an unlicensed vehicle with number plates attached when registration cancelled, driving an unroadworthy vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, plus vehicle registration offences.
A 24-year-old Mount Pleasant man has also pleaded guilty for possessing 0.4 grams of methamphetamines. Andrew Laurance Duggan pleaded guilty and was fined $250. No conviction was recorded.
