Construction to start at Cannonvale Lakes park
A NEW accessible footbridge with a ramp will be built to connect footpaths around the Cannonvale Lakes park in the Whitsundays.
Construction will start on Monday, July 5 at Cannonvale Lakes park on Parker Road and will be completed by the end of this September, weather permitting.
A new accessible footbridge with a ramp over the causeway will connect footpaths around the lake, along with extra footpaths, solar lighting, bollards, handrails and seating.
During this time the existing causeway near the lake will be closed off to public access.
Earlier this year, Whitsunday Regional Council asked residents for their opinion on future upgrades at the park, and this next stage of works has been informed by these conversations.

In 2017, the Council has installed in the park a new playground, shade sails, BBQs, seating, footpaths, carpark and vehicle access.
Other upgrades residents who enjoy the park are unisex toilet block, half-basketball court, revegetation works, walking paths and an upgraded timber boardwalk.
This next stage of upgrades is funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
