Passionate about his lifelong hobby, Mr Dolan said when he was not fishing, he was often thinking about it.

When he retires, the Mirani resident says he plans on fishing for fun for as long as possible.

But for now, he goes around the Mackay region offering personalised tours and tips on how to better catch fish.

With 17 years of experience guiding others, Mr Dolan passed on some of his advice:

  1. Consider the moon phase and the weather.
  2. How high or low the tides are.
  3. The species of fish you are trying to catch (and where it resides at).
  4. What lure you are using on the rod.

The Mackay region offers plenty of great spots for fishers of all abilities to choose from.
