Mackay Dragon Boat Club haul back many accomplishments

28 MACKAY Dragon Boat Club paddlers geared up on Friday March 5 and headed to Kawana Waters on the Sunshine Coast for the 2021 Queensland State Championships.

After two days of very competitive racing, the Mackay Stingers accomplished quite a decent medal haul.
4 Gold  - Regional 500m mixed small boat
               Regional 200m mixed small boat
               Open 40+ 500m standard boat
               Open 40+ 200m standard boat
2 Silver-  Women’s 40+ 500m standard boat
                Women’s 40+ 200m standard boat
Our 55+ women’s and mixed crews also qualified for the 200m finals but were unlucky and didn’t finish in medal contention.

However, we retained the Ian Peters perpetual trophy for the second year running in with the fastest 40+ standard boat over 500m.
Our success was due to a lot of hard work and dedication from everyone in the club.

It was an awesome effort STINGERS.

Thank you to everyone who helped in anyway to make the weekend a success.

Lastly, I would like to mention the hard work of the committee and especially the two coaches Linda Nugent and Sue Murray for all their hard work and patience.
