The GW3 wants to support the agriculture industry and improve food systems within the Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac regions through the Agribusiness Future Alliance Project.

The project will focus on connecting regional export capabilities, identifying and applying for funding that aligns with supply and value chain collaboration.

It will also improve the attraction and preservation strategies for the agricultural workforce.

GW3 CEO Kylie Porter said Shireen Pisters will lead the Agribusiness Future Alliance Project, after her appointment to the role in late 2020.

Ms Pisters worked across many fields within the agricultural industry for the past 20 years and worked in the Northern Territory in the central and top end, along with Broome in Western Australia and South Australia.

She also has farm experience and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science, along with a Diploma of Horticulture, Diploma of Project Management, and a Certificate of Aquaculture.
