THIS Lotus 340r is just one of seven in Australia. A total of 340 were made in the year 2000. Owner Michael Zammit managed to track it down and purchase it last February. “Since owning the car I’ve had my fair share of issues,” he said.

THIS Lotus 340r is just one of seven in Australia. A total of 340 were made in the year 2000. Owner Michael Zammit managed to track it down and purchase it last February. “Since owning the car I’ve had my fair share of issues,” he said.

“With a rear toe link failure on my very first drive on Qld soil (my concrete driveway), replacing the complete fuel system, clutch, clutch slave cylinder, tyers, cooling system bushes and ball joints.

“Once I was happy with it and it was finally reliable I added my touches to it with getting carbon seats trimmed by Mackay Auto & Marine. Also a new carbon boost tube carbon centre trims rear diffuser and wing uprights made by myself.

“The things I love about the car is its just a car with no creature comforts, no doors no roof no AC, no heater, just the bare minimum which brings in the power to weight.”

The car weighs in at a total of 693kg with a full tank of fuel, and pushing out 250rwhp its basically a registered go-kart. “Future plans for the car are to possibly make it a bit lighter and just enjoy driving it,” Michael said.
