Offroad motoring to return to Moranbah
MORANBAH motorists and petrol heads should get ready to rev up their V6 engines in anticipation of an exciting off-road event.
The Isaac Regional Council approved a major grant application worth $4000 to Moranbah Off Road Racing, supported by 4FRM Community Radio.
The May 25 meeting reported the event was the 2021 Moranbah Newmans Excavations 100 offroad event.
This grant application was a result of the successful inaugural event in 2020.
“Organisers are planning to stage a follow-up event on the weekend of July 16 to 18, 2021,” the report said.
“This event was one of the first major community events to reactivate, following the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions in mid-2020 and was well-supported.
“The event will again form part of the Australian Auto Sports Alliance Queensland Championship, and is expected to attract up to 60 teams from across the state.”
Organisers proposed to have a display of their cars in the town square, during the evening of July 16.
“This will involve a street display of competitors’ vehicles, prior to the start of competition, supported by amusements and mobile food vendors,” the report said.
“The organisers are working with Queensland Police Service to stage an escorted parade of vehicles, from the event location to the Moranbah town centre.
“They will park up on public display, before returning to the event location, noting competition vehicles are not road registered.”
The grant application supported this event and other associated activities during the weekend.
