Eimeo Beach Open for Old Fashioned Aussie Family Fun
Families looking for fun in the Eimeo community on Australia should look no further than their local surf life saving club.
Eimeo Surf Life Saving Club chief training officer Cynthia Hegerty says one highlight for her about Australia Day is spending it with her family.
She said the club was inspired to set the event up to be family friendly for the Eimeo community.
She said some of the activities include an Aussie thong throwing competition along with the fastest man and woman to get the flag.
“We’ll also have the fastest kid on the beach flag,” Mrs Hegerty said.
“You lie on your stomach, facing away from them and then you got to get up super fast and grab the flag.
“There’s always one less flag than number of people in the event.
“There’ll be plenty of fun in regards to say running, sand castle building, tug of war – the water slides are for the kids, not for the adults.”
She added the celebrations will take place at the Eimeo Esplanade and will features a live band at the Eimeo Surf club bar.
She said on a personal level she is looking forward to “having a day of family fun and what makes Australia great.”
“Our events are really designed for families and adults, so you got kids, bring them down,” she said.
The free event starts at 2pm and takes place at the Eimeo Esplanade, running until 6pm.
Some of the requirements for the Australia Day celebrations were to stay between the flags and to wear their stinger suits.
