New Volunteering Opportunities for The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassadors

During the absence of cruise ships into Airlie Beach, Tourism Whitsundays have relaunched a new look, The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program, to provide opportunities for existing and new ambassadors to promote the beautiful region we live, work and play in.

During the absence of cruise ships into Airlie Beach, Tourism Whitsundays have relaunched a new look, The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program, to provide opportunities for existing and new ambassadors to promote the beautiful region we live, work and play in.

The new and updated program includes weekly volunteering opportunities at the Lions Airlie Beach Community Market Stall, assisting travellers at The Whitsundays Visitor Information Centre, greeting visitors on arrival at the Whitsunday Coast Airport, as well as the chance to help during annual community events such as the Great Barrier Reef Festival and the Airlie Beach Marathon Festival.

Tourism Whitsundays are encouraging locals to join the rewarding Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program.

With a strong base of experienced volunteers, it is a great time to join these passionate locals and contribute to the experience of visitors to the region.

Tourism Whitsundays Chief Executive Officer, Tash Wheeler said the updated Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program is a great way to promote the region and make friends in the community.

“It is always great to see new opportunities for our wonderful ambassadors to do what they do best, and that is welcome visitors to our wonderful region.

"Our volunteers are a wealth of knowledge with the best local tips and having them greet visitors at key entry points within the region is such an invaluable asset.

“If you are a passionate advocate for The Whitsundays Region and enjoy being part of a wholesome community while making friends, I encourage you to reach out to the team at Tourism Whitsundays to find out what opportunities we have available,” Ms Wheeler said.

The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassadors Program is a great opportunity to assist our community and welcome travellers to The Whitsundays Region while sharing local knowledge and expertise.

Great Barrier Reef Festival Volunteer Coordinator, Lisa Stockow said that volunteers are an integral part of the festival’s survival.

“The new partnership with The Whitsundays Volunteers Ambassadors Program will assist the Great Barrier Reef Festival to go from strength to strength.

"The volunteers are a valued asset to our team and we are looking forward to putting on the best Great Barrier Reef Festival in August,” Ms Stockow said.

Volunteering is a rewarding experience and while volunteering provides its own rewards, being an active volunteer through The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program offers several forms of recognition such as product family opportunities, invitations to attend Tourism Whitsundays networking functions, regular group gatherings and celebrations and so much more.

Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador, Wendy Downes said she loves being part of The Whitsundays volunteer program and enjoys meeting and greeting visitors as they stop in at The Whitsundays Visitor Information Centre.

“Being a Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador is a fun and rewarding experience, it’s a great community to be part of and it is great to experience so many wonderful tours and get together with volunteers at the regular morning tea events Tourism Whitsundays host for us,” Ms Downes said.

The Whitsundays Volunteer Ambassador Program is always happy to lend an extra hand or participate in more community events, if you have any volunteering opportunities please reach out to Tourism Whitsundays.
