Mater Mackay triples community care efforts with Giving Day
Mackay is being urged to dig deep today when Mater launches its inaugural 24-hour Giving Day to help deliver life-saving research, education and healthcare to the Central Queensland community.
Every dollar donated by the general public today will be tripled, thanks to the generosity of a suite of Mater Foundation donors who have pledged to treble the community’s fundraising efforts.
Mater Private Hospital Mackay Executive Officer Elizabeth Thomas said funds raised would be invested in improving healthcare services and equipment in the local community.
“Mater Foundation has been incredibly generous to our hospital in Mackay over the years, contributing equipment such as neoprobes which help us offer less invasive surgery for women in our community,” Ms Thomas said.
“Giving Day is about coming together as a community to ensure Mater can continue to make good things happen for people in Mackay.”
Mater Foundation Executive Director Andrew Thomas said Mater had gained a reputation over the past century in Queensland for providing exceptional care to those who need it most.
“Our incredible achievements are only possible because of the dedication and commitment of the people who work at Mater and give their all to help the community every day,” Mr Thomas said.
“Now, Mater Foundation is setting aside today for the whole community to give back to Mater so we can continue providing exceptional care.”
